Opera Shots is our annual series of casual pop-up concerts throughout the community, held in unexpected places and designed to break down the stereotypes of opera. Opera Shots concerts feature members of the Opera Birmingham Chorus and surprise guest artists presenting an open-mic-style concert of the greatest hits of opera and musical theatre. In the age of COVID-19, Opera Birmingham is adapting and ready to continue bringing innovative entertainment opportunities to our community, so this season’s Opera Shots are mobile outdoor concerts!

Admission is free. Bring your own refreshments. Stone risers provide seating in the amphitheater, but lawn chairs and picnic blankets are welcome as well. For the health of our patrons, staff and performers, masks are required at the event, and social distancing will be in effect.

The November 15th Opera Shots will feature guest artists, Tessa Brown, Kathleen Farrar Buccleugh, Dylan Hughes, Joseph Robinson, Joylyn Rushing, Jonathan Smith and Aimee Weaver, accompanied by Christy Vest on piano. The performance will include selections from Hamilton, Romeo and Juliet, Street Scene, The Marriage of Figaro, La Boheme, Carousel, Die Fledermaus, and Jekyll and Hyde, among others.

Opera Shots will continue in the spring, as we pop up at unexpected locations all across the Birmingham Metro area. Stay tuned for dates and locations.

Opera Shots is sponsored by EcoLogical Insulation of Birmingham, LLC, Medical Properties Trust, Inc., and VIVA Health, Inc., with additional support from Red Mountain Theatre Company.
